Additional comments: TSAVORITE is one of the scarcest precious gemtypes known to man. Mined exclusively in Kenya, in the Tsavo region. On the worldwide market Tsavorite in vivid neon greens to AAA+++ vivid dark forest-greens and muzo-greens are not easy to source. Even the most exclusive of jewellers never have more than a few stones of good colour on offer. ( "Tiffany's" in New York first displayed this scarcity in their windows in the 1970's, shorty after the discovery of Tanzanite). Most fine specimens over 1/2ct find their way inevitably to the world's top-end private gem collections. Tsavorites are extremely difficult to obtain over a carat due to fact that this gem type simply does not occur in large crystals. Anything over 3cts is considered to be of museum collection stature. The Tsavorite in this auction is of precious category, near flawless, and of the rarest and most sought-after of all Tsavorite colours, making this jewel a very attractive investment item. Ideal for top-end jewellers, and especially collectors of scarce East African precious jewels.
