This tester tests the tow electrical socket on all vehicle types, including those with an added electronic tow control relay device. The design of the tester is for use with standard automotive globes instead of LEDs because, with LEDs and their low power consumption, you will get false readings as they light up anywhere from 80 to 150 mA. For the tow socket light circuits to pass the tests, more load must be applied. Using standard automotive globes is an easy way to put a lot more load on the tow socket light circuits, plus you can increase the load by using light globes with a higher wattage. One will need this device in their toolbox to stay up-to-date with vehicle manufacturers.
Device description:
Test heavy trucks, light trucks, buses, minibuses, and motorcars towing electrical sockets (round 7-pin).
Test 12-volt or 24-volt light circuits.
The layout of the tester lights matches the tow socket terminal pins.
Option to increase the load on light circuits by using globes with a larger wattage.
Side handle for easy carrying.
Special note:
Connect the tester only after the vehicle tow-bar module has been coded and communicates with the other modules as necessary over the vehicle network.
Testing features:
Check the wiring circuit standard (SABS).
Check the auxiliary wire connection.
Test the tail light switch.
Test the stop light sensor and switch.
Test the left- and right-hand indicator switches.
Test the hazards switch.
Perform a load test on all light circuits.
Earth/ground wire test: the tester will immediately indicate when there is no earth/ground connection. It will show a swapped earth/ground wire between light circuits or on the auxiliary circuit.

With LED technology, twenty-four-volt power is no longer necessary to test the lights of the truck trailer unless the trailer still uses twenty-four-volt globes. These LED lights are multi-voltage, which means they are compatible with twelve-volt (12 V) and twenty-four-volt (24 V).
