Victorian Tobacco Jar & Lid (Taylor, Tunnicliffe & Co.)
This Victorian earthenware tobacco jar and lid, advertising a brand of tobacco, was made in England between 1875 and 1898 by 'Taylor, Tunnicliffe & Co.' It is dark brown in colour, with a gold advert of a large pipe with smoke coming out, cleverly forming the name of a tobacco mixture 'GARRICK'. It has a heavy, snug fitting lid with a brass knob handle and carries the factory's trademark on the base, with the number '12832'. The jar and lid are in great condition for their age and stands 14cm high, with a diameter of 12cm and weighs 1,1kg.
