A vintage milk jug and sugar bowl stamped "Made in occupied Japan" most likely therefore between 1945 to 1952 - and produced in Japan. There is discolouration of the sugar bowl and the glaze is discoloured with crazy glazing - the milk jug is in good shape and has virtually no discolouration but also has crazy glazing. Neither piece is chipped or cracked and both are functional. These pieces were made at a time when Japan had signed the peace treaty but items for export out of the country, had to be marked Made in Japan which provided the proof that they were no longer the enemy and that goods were part of the now defeated country. I have the lid which I am enclosing as part of the sugar bowl - this has been repaired and had previously no doubt been badly damaged - the repair is very good and so if the pair are used for display purposes, this will make a complete set. These items are collectable and not often seen today.
Apologies...stands for display purposes only
