Add a touch of whimsy to your walls with this vintage mid-century Shiwan pottery wall pocket in the form of a crab. Handcrafted in China's Guangdong region, it features bold sculptural detail and a rich, high-gloss green glaze with mottled ochre tones an unmistakable nod to Shiwan's traditional sancai-inspired finish.
Stamped on the unglazed base with an impressed Chinese four-character mark reading Made by Li Shou Shen, this piece reflects the skilled artistry of the Shiwan kilns, active during the 1950s - 1970s. Measuring approximately 20.3 cm x 13.8 cm x 5.6 cm, it is in excellent vintage condition with no damage or signs of use, and retains its original hand-finished charm.
In Chinese culture, the crab symbolises harmony, good fortune, and success particularly in the imperial examination system making it a meaningful decorative choice. This piece comes from the same carefully curated estate collection as several of our recent Chinese ceramics, offering both collectible value and timeless style for any space.
