WW1 - Mess-Kit 'The Canberra' Utility Tool (Crown Cork Opener)

 

This early, British, metal utility tool features, a folding corkscrew, bottle opener and tin or can opener and was part of a WW1 soldiers mess-kit who served in the 'Kings Royal Rifles'. It is stamped on the handle 'THE CANBERRA' 'Made in England', and on the blade 'CROWN CORK OPENER' 'RD No.542651'. The tin opener is in excellent condition and measures 14cm in length.

 

NOTE: This is part of a small collection of military items that I'll be listing, that belonged to a 'Capt. R.J. Truter M.C.' who served with the 'Army Service Corps' during the Boer War and in the 'Kings Royal Rifles' in WW1.
