An EXCELLENT example of a sought after Anglo-Boer War, King's South Africa Medal with Silk Ribbon attested to Nesbitt's Horse. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed Relief on both obverse and reverse. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface.
The Unit was raised in December 1899 , in the Cape Colony by Colonel Nesbitt- originally consisting of 300 volunteers. Elements of the Corps accompanied Lord Roberts during the March to Bloemfontein- and participated in the Battle at Karee Siding (29 March 1900). The Unit was present during the occupation of Pretoria and participated in suppressing guerrilla activity in the Orange River Colony & Cape Colony districts - namely Prieska, Maraisburg & Philippolis. Members of Nesbitt's Horse were mentioned in dispatches by Lord Kitchener & Lord Roberts.
