An awesome vintage cook book, a collector's item!
Whole generations learned how to cook by using this book. It is still cherished by many families, browned, tattered and held together by tape, and still coveted by those who do not possess it! With lots of great old recipes like eggs poached in milk, peach upside-down cake, pinwheel cookies, chocolate pie filling, hot endive and potato salad, hot celery cabbage, cocoa indians with milk, and spiced apple cider. With everything you need to know about cooking, meal plans, menus, shopping, preserving, freezing, saving and measurements. Meta Given (1888-1981) wrote this cookbook in 1947 after she had completed her first cookbook called Modern Family Cook Book (1942). Both books were used in colleges and universities as well as sold to the public. She sold these books from 1942-1972, when they went out of print. With photographs, some in colour.
This book is the 14th printing of August 1953. Published by JG Ferguson and Associates, Chicago, USA. Condition: Good for its age.
