Product OverviewThe MCP23008-E/P device provides an 8 bit, general purpose, parallel I/Oexpansion for I2C bus applications. The MCP23008-E/P consists of multiple 8 bitconfiguration registers for input, output and polarity selection. The systemmaster can enable the I/Os as either inputs or outputs by writing the I/Oconfiguration bits. The data for each input or output is kept in thecorresponding Input or Output register. The polarity of the Input Port registercan be inverted with the Polarity Inversion register.
