Very good. Original 1881 second edition, rebound in original faded boards, though gilt on front boards and spine still legible. Binding now repaired and very solid. Fold out map has been sensitively repaired by adding a bottom section in facsimile and restored such that it is now complete. All repair and restoration carried out by highly skilled restorer. See photographs. Africana. Hardback. Nice to have the early Victorian edition with the authentic engravings ( about two hundred original illustrations ) and printing for a great price similar to the better facsimiles.
