The Philodendron Panduriforme hybrid is something truly special. With its long, narrow, deeply green leaves and strong climbing growth, it's a plant that looks as bold as it sounds. These are well-established plants, perfect if you're after something unusual that will only get better with size.
Commonly known as: Philodendron Panduriforme hybrid
Botanical name: Philodendron Panduriforme (hybrid form)
The Philodendron Panduriforme hybrid is an exciting aroid that has gained a lot of attention among collectors. Its standout feature is its long, narrow leaves that taper elegantly, often showing a glossy texture that looks almost polished. Unlike heart-shaped philodendrons, this hybrid offers a more architectural look, making it a striking choice for any indoor plant collection.
These hybrids are strong growers and naturally climbers, so they'll appreciate a moss pole, coir totem, or any support they can latch onto. Over time, they reward you with bigger and bolder foliage, making them both unusual and rewarding to grow.
Light: This philodendron enjoys bright, indirect light. Too much harsh sun will scorch the leaves, while too little light will reduce growth and shrink leaf size.
💧 Watering: Water when the top 34cm of soil is dry. The hybrid prefers evenly moist soil but never soggy conditions. Consistency is key avoid extremes of dryness or overwatering.
🌡 Temperature & Humidity: Best in warm conditions between 1828°C. They'll adapt to average indoor humidity in South Africa but thrive with higher humidity. Regular misting or a pebble tray helps promote larger leaves.
🪴 Soil & Repotting: For optimal drainage and healthy roots, use our premixed Aroid Mix or create your own with Barks Unlimited Potting Soil and Perlite. When repotting, add Bark Chips for better aeration. Repot every 12 years to refresh the soil and give roots space.
🍃 Fertiliser: Feed monthly in the growing season with Controlled Release Fertiliser or boost with Organic Fertiliser. This helps support strong climbing growth and healthy, glossy foliage.
🐛 Pests: Keep an eye out for mealybugs, aphids, and spider mites. Regularly wipe the leaves and treat with insecticidal spray if necessary.
With its striking form, glossy narrow leaves, and climbing growth habit, the Philodendron panduriforme hybrid is a standout plant that brings a sophisticated edge to any indoor collection.
